MIlkweed introduction
In this book Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli, a young gypsy boy names Misha has no family or friends and all he knows to do is steal and live on his own in a place called Warsaw. After he meets a friend Uri, a Jew impressed in how good Misha is at stealing, he gets introduced to Uri's friends who aren't very happy about having a gypsy live with them. At first they think he would get them all in trouble but then find out hes not that bad. When Uri starts talking about Jackboots and things having to do with the war, Misha is very confused but then realized what the Jackboots are and what they do. Soon he will learn that he has to be very careful around people and not get cough. Because Misha has no history or background knowledge about anything including his life he has to make up his life. As this whole journey is taking place Misha finds a girl about his age named Janina. Janina's family get moved to a ghetto and her family is concerned about Janina having a thief as a friend but the most concerned is her mother. While Misha and Uri try to survive and stay alive during the holocaust they will not only find out things about other but also about themselves and what the best thing to do when in this situation is.
